On the 17th July 2010, 3 of our Network members took park in the Red Cross Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. The challenge took them to the summit of three Yorkshire peaks, Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres/2,276 feet), Whernside (736 metres/2,415 feet) and Ingleborough (723 metres/2,372 feet). Starting and finishing at the village hall in Horton in Ribblesdale, they covered 24.5 miles over a variety of terrains and a climbed total of 1600 metres. Gold Practice Expedition - Dartmoor |
4 of our Network members undertook a 3 day expedition in a very warm mid-April. We headed down on the Thursday night, and arrived at a bunkhouse in Buckfastleigh after dark. After starting the first day of our hike with a big up hill stretch, we were fortunate to have a nice ridge walk for most of the day. We set up our campsite at Plym Ford, where James then revealed a nasty case of blisters on the heels of his feet. The second day started off with a easy walk down and briefly off the moors into Princetown, but we then carried on back into the moors to set up camp for our second night. Waking up on the third day brought a bit of a surprise, with a nice covering of ice on the tents! After heading out of the cold valley we were in it quickly warmed up again and we were back in our shorts and t shirts. To finish off the hike we climbed up Riders Hill, where as it had been so dry the past couple of weeks, there had been a couple of fires near by. After climbing Riders Hill we swiftly made our way off the moors and hiked back into Buckfastleigh ready for a long drive home!

Scouting For Girls Gig |
Having only found out about the Scouting for Girls gig the Wednesday before the Saturday they were due to be playing, deciding to go was a bit of a spur of the moment thing.
Six Network members went to the bands first gig of 2010 at Hertfordshire University, and by the looks of it all had a good time.

London '09 |
On the last Sunday before Christmas 10 Stevenage Network members travelled to London. The day started with an hour session ice skating in Hyde Parks Winter Wonderland.
The group then decided to split up, while some of us did some very last minute Christmas shopping, the rest took shelter from the cold day in various pubs.
The day was brought to a close by a ride on the London Eye.

Climbing at Phasels Wood
A group of us took at trip to Phasels Wood to go climbing on the 5th March.
A rolling wall and climbing routes marked out around the walls of the building meant we all got a good climb!
The evening was capped off with the traditional trip to the pub. Which proved more difficult than expected. Thank you Ela for sending us on a nice tour of the A41!

Its a New Year and a New Name
As many of you will know we have changed our name. In light of our late founder we are now called the "Tom Moore Stevenage District Network". We all hope that you are happy with this name and I am sure Tom's parents are pleased that we have chosen to honour Tom's memory in such a way.
