About Stevenage Scouting

The Scout Association provides adventurous activities and personal development opportunities for 400,000 young people aged 6-25 in the United Kingdom. Internationally, we have over 28 million young people enjoying the benefits of Scouting across 218 countries. For more information see www.scouts.org.uk or www.scoutbase.org.uk

The Scout Association promotes the physical, intellectual, social and spiritual well-being of the individual, helping them achieve their full potential. In Scouting, we believe that young people develop most when they are 'learning by doing,' when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves

Stevenage Scouting District covers the new town of Stevenage and the villages of Knebworth, Datchworth, Aston and Walkern, and is a part of the Scout County of Hertfordshire. (Map)

Stevenage District Headquarters, "Poplars Centre", is situated in the Poplars Community Area, next to Sainsburys'. The Headquarters is open every Monday evening during school term. This is the ideal time for seeing the ADC's, meeting other Leaders, swapping ideas, or even buying a uniform shirt or sweater from the Scout Shop. It also provides a place to hold District meetings and activities.

There are several Scout Groups in and around Stevenage.

The District is run by Roy Nicholson, District Commissioner, with the help of several Assistant District Commissioners and the District Executive Committee.
